Kirsten Dunst announced to the German Tabloid B.Z that she is now a dual citizen in Germany and America according to People magazine. The actress, 29, said in an interview that her dual citizenship will help her become an “international lady” and will allow her to “film in Europe with no problem.”
"It would be the greatest joy for me to act in a German film," she shared. ??The daughter of a Swedish mother and a German father, Dunst admits that she visits her relatives in Hamburg frequently, and would even consider buying property there.
"I would prefer to buy an apartment in Berlin," she says. "It's such a young city, and right now so much is happening in Berlin."Dunst won best actress at the 64th Cannes Film Festival last May for her performance in the apocalyptic film "Melancholia," directed by Danish director Lars von Trier.
The director shocked everyone at the press conference following the movie with his response when asked about his German roots. He jokingly admitted to being a Nazi, to understanding Hitler and speculated that his next movie could be "The Final Solution," according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Dunst shared in an interview with the Guardian how the incident put her in an uncomfortable position, who was sitting right next to von Trier when he said the statement. ??"Melancholia" ends with judgement day and a funeral for everyone, but Dunst only giggled and said after watching the movie premiere at Cannes, "That's one thing you can say for the end of the world..It solves a lot of problems."
