Kirsten Dunst, upset over rumors that her stay in rehab was due to her drinking, lashed out at critics saying she was in rehab due to depression, not booze.

The 26 year-old actress had gone to Utah's famous celebrity rehab center, Cirque Lodge, after suffering from a bought of depression she wasn't able to get over for months.  "I was feeling really low," said Dunst, "that's why I got help".

Cirque is famous for the rehab of other young stars, most recently Lindsay Lohan and Eva Mendes.  But the rehab center isn't known for depressed, rich and successful young starlettes who feel a bit pouty.  What the hard core celebs who show up at Cirque are there for is either booze or drug habits - not mild cases of depression, as the sexy Spider Man co-star Dunst claims.

Dunst, who's latest film is being shot in New York where the actress is starring along side Ryan Gosling in "All Good Things", is known for her party girl habits in Beverly Hills and many believe Kirsten is kiss'n up to the press with her rehab depression story in order to save her career from going sideways.

Kirsten's last movie, "Marie Antoinette", gave Dunst the starring role and insiders are saying she wants to 'stay on top' as long as she can, knowing a publicly revealed drinking or drug problem could wreck her movie career.  So 'cooling it' at Cirque Clinic in Utah was a good choice - now if Dunst can only convince the media that she's a clean all-American girl!
